Initial Consultation

Each case is unique. Prior to the submission of any documents, the relevant facts, types of examinations, collection of exemplars and procedure to properly submit items will be discussed.

 

 Laboratory Examinations

Questioned documents are examined to resolve issues concerning:

  •   handwriting, hand printing or signatures

  •   typewriting

  •   machine printing (e.g., commercial graphic arts, laser, ink jet, thermal)

  •   paper (e.g., watermarks, physical properties, jig-saw fracture match)

  •   ink differentiation

  •   writing instruments

  •   alterations (e.g., obliterations, erasures, additions, interlineations)

  •   impressions (e.g., indented writing, rubber stamp, latent fingerprint)

  •   photocopy and facsimile machine characteristics

Field Examinations

Documents that are unavailable for submission (e.g., originals in possession of another party or agency) may be examined and photographed outside this office.

 

Reports and Testimony

Oral or written reports, affidavits, demonstrative charts, pretrial conference and expert testimony are provided as required.

 

Additional Services

If needed, the examination of other types of forensic evidence or investigative services can be provided by a team of retired NYPD detectives and scientists who are recognized experts in their respective disciplines. For example:

  •   fingerprint development and comparison analysis

  •   ballistics, firearms and tool mark analysis

  •   trace evidence analysis

  •   hair and fiber analysis

  •   microscopy and instrumental analysis

  •   toxicology and pharmacology analysis

  •   crime scene processing and documentation

  •   arson and explosion investigation

  •   evidence photography and demonstrative exhibits

  •   licensed PI detective investigations
